Happy February Henchbunnies! This post isn’t really an exciting announcement or anything, but just a small reflection of some happenings over the Chinese New Year period. Feel free to skip it if you want!
January closed off in a bit of a challenging position, not being able to stream for the week at all due to Chinese New Year visitations and reunion dinners (big family and church community things). It was bittersweet because I got to celebrate my birthday with you all just the week before (big hurray!) but right after, the entire coming week got booked out and I ended off coming home yesterday at 1am, exhausted, still a little sick and with a throbbing headache. Even as an extrovert, back-to-back weeklong socialising is a tall order, and I missed streaming so much while away.
Gathering with so many friends and family over the week simultaneously made me feel behind but also ahead in other ways. I no longer get the “When boyfriend?” / “When getting married?” questions, but now get lots of 早生贵子 wishes (or, ‘May You be blessed with a child soon’). Though I have no intentions of having a blessing of that sort anytime soon XD.
Over my gatherings with all our family and friends, it’s gotten more and more apparent we’ve all grown to live very different lives. Some of my more well off family and friend members mostly chat about speculating the market and affording lavish home renovations or car upgrades which I can only dream of at this time, while others spill their heart out about how they’re trying to get by.
Life doesn’t treat people fairly, and I think the conclusion from this week for me was to be grateful for wherever you are in life, and continue striving to do what’s best for yourself and your loved ones. Let the expectations of others be water off a duck’s back, because you’re only accountable for your own timeline, and don’t live according to what others expect of you. That said, in 2025 I want to pursue the kind of life I want for my future, and will continue to do my best for it! Let’s make this year ours, if we can ♡ or just get through it, if we must.
February here we come!
