On the final day of our string of birthday streams, I had the opportunity to try Snow Bros Wonderland with Faffery, Anteloperush, their son Jojo (who would take over Faff’s controller on occasion), and ASHA_EXE! I had little idea what I was getting into with this game because I had never tried the prior Snow Bros Wonderland games. Upon a little research, I learnt it is a 1990 arcade classic which began as a 2-dimensional platformer. Developed by TATSUJIN Starring brothers Nick and Tom, the initial release was available on the NES, Sega Genesis and Game Boy.
The aim of the game is to defeat enemies by throwing snowballs, turning targets into BIG snowballs, then tossing or kicking them to form combo attacks! Now that it is set in a 3D isometric world, players can take aim using all 360 degrees, and even lop snowballs upwards! (Which was discovered when I played a little off stream in World 2.) In addition, up to 4 players can form a party to clear levels together! It was easy to set up with Steam Remote Play, though latency issues might be a concern if you’re playing with friends across the globe. A controller is highly recommended for a smooth playing experience, but keyboard works fine too.
It was a great party game and something I’ll definitely pick up with more friends in the future. The bosses seem to scale up in difficulty if you are playing with others, so if you’re going in as a full party try to survive until the very end! I’m sure there are many more fun mechanics awaiting me as I progress, and I look forward to playing it again. Clip compilation will come soon!
Snow Bros Wonderland is available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PS4/PS5. For more information on the game, visit their site here!
