Love and Deepspace: Lemurian Sea God Rafayel Reaction, Myth Playthrough and review!

I am beyond excited to be playing Rafayel’s 2nd myth tonight! I had to give his cards a miss for the past few multibanners (I wish we could pull for more guarantee boxes!) and I’ve been sad about it for a while now.

The Raf withdrawals are so real, I found myself missing his smooth charm and pouty attitude and replayed a few of the cards of his that I did have just to satiate the desire for more ;;.

The trailer for this myth blew me away. From the insane graphics and emotionally charged story to of course, our Sea God husband being the perfect specimen of a merman. The trailer got many little fishies excited online! (Myself included). Upon reaching #1 in the app store after the update across 17 countries, the devs gave out 20 free pulls, 500 free energy, 2000 chocolates and enhancement materials too! So don’t forget to claim them!

These cards are really setting a high bar for myths to follow, which is incredibly exciting! I’ll be updating this blog with my review of the myth once we’re done with the stream tonight! Join me!

Review time!
Conditions:
This is the first myth where all chapters are unlocked for you upon obtaining the cards. I think this is a step in the right direction. Previously, upgrading the cards and obtaining chapter shards was necessary, which made it such that sometimes you’d only be able to read the story part by part. The experience of getting to enjoy the full myth from the get-go is much better, keeping the content fresh in your mind as you sit down to indulge in the myth.
As with the other companion cards, the myth-exclusive title “Sea God’s Bride” and alternate colour outfits are available upon ranking up the cards. But since I’m refraining from spending too much, I didn’t rank up and left them as-is just to enjoy the story. But props to some of my Rafayel girlie friends who did R3! I love living vicariously through their gameplays.

Spoiler-free review of the Story:
Some main aspects to the story were already revealed during the trailer, but sitting through the close-to-3 hours, 9 chapters of content (including narrating most of the lines out loud), hits different. Despite major spoilers in the trailer, the overarching effect still made me BAWL. The tension of doomed lovers is so so good and there are many tender moments with Rafayel in this myth. Bearing the burden of leading and determining her hometown and her own fate must have been difficult for our MC.

This myth fills the gap and expands upon a number of Rafayel’s previous myths, forming a more complete picture of his history with you and Lemuria. There are many mysteries about the town of Romirro, Whalefall City, and Lemuria that are also revealed. My favourite insights were how a Sea God would ascend into godhood, and some insights on the festivals celebrated in Romirro. I found those chapters particularly entertaining and touching. Many observers online have picked up on various things in this myth, so if you’re a game theory fan, look out for them!

Remnants of his usual self can be found in this myth, but for a lot of it, Lemurian Sea God Rafayel gives off an air of greater maturity. His features also seem more defined in this myth. At one point, there was a line which mentioned the light casting a softness to Rafayel’s features, which doesn’t suit him. How MC perceives him in this card is not how she typically perceives him in his other cards. So if you’re used to soft, pouty Rafayel, this card may be a bit of a shock to the system. It’s no surprise he’s more serious in this card though, a lot hangs in the balance for what he chooses to do here.

Kindled:
Mistsea Descent was an incredible treat. It must have been a difficult feat to achieve considering motion capture would be difficult (or impossible?) to do up for a merman. I can imagine the work it must have took to perfect every detail of his many accessories and incredibly long hair too. But it all pays off to give Rafayel an amazing,  believable, underwater ethereal being effect. Rafayel’s abs look amazing in every underwater frame… The voice actor’s versatility is showcased here too, as Lemurian Sea God Rafayel takes on a more serious tone.

Mistsea Lament, of course, is when the dreaded pain kicks in. The beginning of the kindled is bittersweet, knowing MC’s intentions and savouring our sweet final moments with our sea god. He is very intimate with her in this Kindled, and you can feel his love and pain portrayed powerfully in his eyes and actions. His despair was mine during these final moment, especially after reading the story. From just the trailer, it is hard to appreciate the nuances and detail included in this scene. But once you experience the story, every element included just makes you want to cry.

Overall, an amazing experience, and I’m really glad I got to read this with you. Thank you for joining me as always! And please look forward to more Love and Deepspace content!
