The title is self explanatory! Since the release of Uma Musume’s global servers on mobile and on Steam, the intersection of the anime and gaming community has exploded with excitement over this horse girl raising game. I’m one of the many who picked up Uma Musume last week and it’s been an incredibly fun rabbit hole to dive into. (This blog is a little overdue but I’d been nursing a whiplash injury and hadn’t been able to write properly ;; glad I could pick it up again!)
In this blog post, I will be sharing more of my own journey as a Week 1 player who had not consumed any of the media prior to picking up the game. As a true newcomer to the Uma Musume scene if you will: I WAS VERY LOST- but the community for this game is abundant and awesome and very willing to share what they know.
I was drawn to the game because it seemed like a fun concept to collect horse girls who sang idol songs. Not to mention the girls are super cute! Initially, I had NO IDEA that the game cycle involved training the girls, since the trailer didn’t show the gameplay.
But once I cleared the tutorial and started my first career, I got hooked. As a fan of games like the ones published by Kairosoft, (my first being Game Dev Story, which involves similar stat-boosting mechanics) the idea of training your horse girl be the best she can be was an appealing one. Right now, I’m still trying to get my long runners careers cleared >< but with my kit and lack of monies… it will take a while before we get there. My favourite girls are Daiwa Scarlet, Taiki Shuttle and Haru Urara! but truthfully, all of them are very cute, and I have a hard time choosing an ultimate favourite ><
The stories and character interactions are a lot of fun to read too. Uma Musume has humorous, heartwarming moments, and it really excites me to see what comes next!
