Our Indie Games of 18th May 2026 were brought about by Lurkit. Lurkit connect game studios with content creators across Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok and is free to use for all creators! I’ve participated in over 100 campaigns to date since first starting to use it in 2023 with Cuisineer and it is a great way to discover and experience upcoming games.
Today’s features are games that are coming in late spring and have a mix of adventure, heartwarming stories, and fun to offer! Conquer dungeons with a brave little frog and his die, or step into the shoes of a young girl in an eccentric world, run a retro vinyl store with an ex-celebrity, or kick back with a Scrabble Balatro-like in the adventures we offer today!
Games list: (Click on the game name to jump to the section!)
1. Die In The Dungeon (Steam link)
2. Pluralys (Steam link)
3. Wax Heads (Steam link)
4. Beyond Words (Steam link)
1. Die In The Dungeon (Steam link)
Despite countless roguelikes to choose from in today’s gaming climate, Die In The Dungeon still finds new ways to set itself apart. Instead of cards, you build a deck of dice. Enemies are dealt damage by combining dice on a board which may multiply or amend each other’s effects. The possibility for synergies are endless, and combined with relics (which function much like those in Slay the Spire), you can get some pretty rewarding experiences! It’s certainly more visual than the usual deck builder, making comprehension of the powers easier. Some of the dice modifications feel like traps, but having only cleared 1 floor thus far, there’s certainly more that awaits my discovery. I enjoyed the mob designs, especially the bosses and mini-bosses. I hope you have as much of a rewarding time with Die In The Dungeon!
2. Pluralys (Steam link)
We played through the first day of Pluralys! The 90-minute introduction phase begins in a hospital, where you play as a doctor and go through some simple fetch quests that takes you throughout the building to speak with NPCs and interact with objects. Expect a slower pace with this game, good stories are usually not in a rush anyway.
Within the introduction, you encounter a number of comical, intriguing characters that seem to belong, but also not belong, in the same world as our humanoid doctor and his staff. We’ve yet to meet Elie, the true protagonist for the rest of the game, but from the reviews I’ve seen, there’s much to be loved and discovered in the world of Pluralys that awaits you if give it a chance.
3. Wax Heads (Steam link)
If you prefer a snappier visual novel experience, Wax Heads is set in Repeater records—a struggling record store. On the first day on the job, you meet Morgan, whose complicated history as an ex-celebrity leaves you with a budding interest in how things will play out for her. And you get to handle your first customers! Wax Heads allows for both a cozy and slightly challenging experience, where you can pick from a mode which allows you to try fulfilling customer requests again (until you get it right), or have a no-take-backsies policy. There are various puzzles to go through to find the vinyl that will satisfy your customers just right, and the game is packed full of original tracks, fun art, and quirky characters. You will find yourself engrossed in no time!
4. Beyond Words (Steam link)
Beyond Words truly lives up to it’s name. Many describe this game as a Scrabble Balatro-like. The learning curve is high but if you’ve experienced Balatro before, some features will seem familiar. Points are determined by tiles on the board, letter value, and word length. The stages offer different experiences through the unique layouts and rules which keeps you on your toes every time you approach a new level. I enjoyed playing this with chat, and it’s a fun, challenging take on single player Scrabble.
I hope you enjoyed the recommendations from today’s gaming session! It was honestly one with no misses. I can’t wait to revisit them! If you’re curious, check out our previous games feature in April consisting 15 roguelike and roguelite games here!
