Quick Impression of 15 Rogue Games We Tried on Stream!

Are you someone who values endless replayability? If you are, I think you’d be excited about the 15 games I’m about to introduce! On Saturday, 11th Apr 2026, I decided to have an impromptu stream to try as many rogue games as possible. These included games that reached out to me, which were tagged as Roguelikes or Roguelites. Since there were many, it wasn’t difficult to consolidate them to give them a try!

From Balatro-likes to math battling to physics-based deckbuilders, there is something for everyone in this month’s installment of an Indie Games Day.

1. Becoming Captain
2. Repeat After Death
3. Plinbo
4. Dicey Bisniz
5. Void Breach
6. Talystro
7. COMBOTRONICA – Key issues so we could not try it ;;
8. PinKeep (Demo)
9. Cupiclaw (Demo)
10. PASS THE FEAR
11. Prime Monster
12. Spinner: Rogueblade
13. Tinker Shot (Demo)
14. Agrivore (Demo)
15. Dawn of Defense

1. Becoming Captain

Bring forth the weapon cards! In this deckbuilder, you customise the selection of attacks you get access to by equipping weapons that perform unique attacks. It plays like a simplified Magic The Gathering without as many complex modifiers or steps. I was excited to learn more about the mysteries mentioned in the Steam page, but it’s possible I did not progress far enough to uncover much. If this sounds up your alley, give the Becoming Captain demo a try!

2. Repeat After Death by Exploding Soes

RAD: Repeat After Death is easily one of the most unique premises presented in this lineup of games. In this challenging dungeon crawler, you replay the same map multiple times and have to defeat a number of enemies before you can proceed. The twist? Your previous routes to victory become the next hurdle to overcome!

As you progress, the cast of characters you meet and figments of your memory slowly return to you. There’s a lot that I’m excited to uncover in RAD: Repeat After Death!

3. Plinbo

If you like a chill roguelike and seeing money go up, Plinbo is for you. In Plinbo, you upgrade your pins, balls, and special modifiers to increase the money you can earn! There’s a strangely simultaneous relaxation and nervousness in watching the balls fall, hoping they hit the pins that will propel your score to victory. Not to mention, the sound design is incredibly satisfying.

4. Dicey Bisniz

Dicey Bisniz is a Balatro-like where you build combinations of dice to beat increasing score targets. Relics, spells, and more help to modify your game, and there are interesting boss battles to face too! Everything is automatically calculated, and there is an in-game HUD (Heads-up display) which makes gameplay swift. I struggled to comprehend how the scores were achieved, but with more familiarity I’m sure it’s graspable. The demo is available to try now!

5. Void Breach

Void Breach in all honesty was a little overwhelming for me. But if this Roguelite was handed to a bullet hell fan, I bet they’d have much more fun with the many missions, modifiers, and mobs. Every run gives you something to upgrade your arsenal with, and to date there are 12 incredible abilities to unlock! It is quite a difficult game, so definitely don’t expect any safety rails. My wish with this game is that there will be more motivation to progress it, since it kind of felt like I was shooting into the void… but if that’s what you like, why not?

6. Talystro

Math galore! You’re a mouse kicking number monsters in the butt! Talystro is a unique roguelite where you combine dice, cards and logic to defeat your enemies. Your cards can be enchanted and used in different ways to tally your way to victory! I found Talystro enjoyable for its humorous graphics and witty gameplay. The numbers start small and increase as you progress, making successful combinations more difficult. Give the Talystro demo a try if you’d like a taste of this numerical delight!

7. COMBOTRONICA – Key issues so we could not try it ;; , but if it works in the future I will upload it!

8. PinKeep (Demo)

PinKeep is one of the memorable entries that day, given I spent way more time on it than I expected to. Have you ever tried to play pinball, build a deck, collect resources and defend a fort all at once? PinKeep puts you in a position where you have to do so! It’s surprisingly easy to get into. The tutorial is simple and wastes no time, equipping you with the key knowledge you need to proceed right away. The charm with PinKeep is that it rewards skill. With enough skill, you can flip the odds in your favour! Each map provides its own challenges, and the boss battle was thrilling to engage in! I can’t recommend PinKeep enough.

9. Cupiclaw (Demo)

When I saw Cupiclaw for the first time, my 2017 self squealed in delight! It reminded me of an old mobile game I used to play religiously, Clawbert! With a super cute claw character and lots of collectibles. The gameplay however, is very different. Cupiclaw, as one might imagine being on this list, is a roguelike and not a casual collection game. Faced with the challenge of a ticking timer and tight budget, we’re doing our best to help the protagonist, Morris, catch an engagement ring, which is only available at the top floor of the arcade.

Curate your cashouts and prizes which work together to create powerful combos! Every grab counts, so get to it and claw your way up! The Cupiclaw demo is available on Steam to try.

10. PASS THE FEAR

PEW PEW PEW! It’s PASS THE FEAR! Another bullet-hell roguelite to add to your collection if you’re a fan. Where PASS THE FEAR excels in is in keeping your curiosity piqued on what you might find in the next room. Your character can hold up to 2 weapons with modifiers each, so you can find different ways to stack effects and overcome the odds! The boss I got to face was delightfully challenging. I might come back to deal with her properly sometime.

From a quick look at the talent tree, there’s a lot of potential to be unlocked after each run. The story unfolds little by little as you clear the game too, so for those who value runs being rewarding, you’ll certainly find it worthwhile for the upgrades and lore.

Currently, there is also a Multiplayer Beta, so you can even try it with a friend! Just keep in mind this aspect to the game is still in the works, so remember to report any bugs or suggestions to the devs.

11. Prime Monster

Ever wanted to debate in monster parliament? Now’s your time to shine in Prime Monster! In this unique setting for a roguelike deckbuilder, you find yourself up against various parties of monsters wanting to pass nonsense bills in parliament and it’s your job to stop them! Rally your members, fight fairly (or don’t), and celebrate in sweet, sweet victory to level up your governmental prowess.

A demo is available to try if this sounds up your alley.

13. Tinker Shot (Demo)

If Worms W.M.D was your jam in the 2010s, you might find some fun in Tinker Shot! Combining rogue deckbuilding and strategic physics gameplay, your selection of spells grows to overcome increasingly challenging levels. My favourite cards were the bombs and burn modifiers!

14. Agrivore (Demo)

15. Dawn of Defense

Oh man, I clearly don’t play tower defenses enough, because when I tell you I struggled with Dawn of Defense, I truly struggled. That said, the premise of having various isles that you need to acquire and protect while fighting off the swarms was interesting! The upgrades also came relatively quickly… I just need to get quicker…

If you want to try it for yourself, Dawn of Defense has a demo out now!

And that concludes the 15 (well 14), games we got to try! What is your favourite roguelike/roguelite? There have been so many incredible releases of late and I genuinely wish I had more time in the day to play through all of them. If there’s one you’d highly recommend, drop it in the #propose-content channel on my Discord: and I’ll consider it more heavily!

Thank you so much for reading through this list, if you’d like to see more of such themed Indie Games Days, I’d love to hear it!
