Are you ready for the best summer ever? Enter Woodo: a charming, relaxing game which has every element needed for a cozy evening in. This drag-and-drop puzzle adventure is all sorts of satisfying. Imagine a 3D sticker book where each piece has a place, and your job is to seek out where they belong.
Along the way, you unfold a heartwarming story about our city girl Foxy and country man Ben. We also learn the many side stories about the supporting characters too, each providing a warm fuzzy reading experience. The feeling of increasing familiarity with the cast feels like we are learning alongside Foxy as she spends her summer with them. As you play through the maps, you begin to recognise your fellow villagers by their characteristic traits and consider them more closely.
There’s much to love about Woodo, but my favourite quality is how it evoked a sense of wonder with each delightful little discovery. Some items are hidden away, and require you to explore to find them. Some maps also have special features, like having to unpack objects one by one, or chase after floating fishes. Every map offers a fresh experience and much to stumble upon. Even upon the main story completion, there are side quests and achievements you can embark on that will have you relooking at the maps more carefully. It is a great game for both casual gamers and achievement hunters!
The graphics are undeniably nostalgic, taking on the animated form of old school wooden toys. The music and sound design are also impeccably done, complimenting the atmosphere and interactions perfectly. Hints and time are limitless too, so you can truly take your time with the game. I really hope to have more adventures like these in future games, this is definitely a game I wood love to experience replaying for the first time if I could. πΥ άΈ.Λ¬.άΈΥπ¦―
